story

Amy Black and her husband, Mike, live in Eaton. They are co-directors of Restored Ministry and its outreach, The Community Hub.

Mike and I were gifted The Community Hub in Eaton from Triumphant Life Ministries in February of 2025. We weren’t sure how God intended us to use the facility but it soon became clear.

Olivia Wilson, Eaton’s Site Leader and a family friend, sent us an invite to Be The Story last Spring. We immediately knew we wanted to partner with YFC in whatever capacity we could to support Olivia who is dear to us and her efforts to reach young people in Eaton. Having volunteered previously with YFC, I know the tremendous impact of volunteering not only on the students, but on the volunteers as well.

Ten years after my initial volunteer experience with YFC Preble County, I still am reaping the benefits of wonderful relationships with the youth I was privileged to invest in. Getting to be part of their lives, receiving updates and surprise visits is such a rich source of joy and brings satisfaction knowing the work was worth it! There is something wonderful in watching the seeds planted over the years grow to beautiful fruit. Jordan Guinn is that to me. Now the Preble County Community Engagement Coordinator for YFC, Jordan was 11 when we met. I was privileged to be Jordan’s youth leader, foster mom and now spiritual mentor and friend.

God called me back to YFC in March. Getting to be a volunteer and watching Jordan and Olivia care for and shepherd the youth in our county is absolutely amazing. Their hearts for Jesus and these kids gives me so much hope! Being with them energizes me. I’m so excited for what God is doing through YFC in Preble County’s young people and in the hearts of the leaders and volunteers.
