In December, Youth for Christ took 20 students and 4 adult leaders to Winter Camp in Michigan where hundreds of students from various YFC chapters partner together in an unforgettable conference where students can disconnect from the world and grow in faith together. There is a speaker, a band, lots of activities, cabins in the snow and so much more. It was a cold but beautiful weekend in the midst of God’s creation!
“Winter Camp was a great experience because even though it was cold, it was beautiful. It was also super eye opening with the counselors being amazing and helping to pull me toward God. I loved seeing God work in my life and in other people. Truly a wonderful experience.” – Annabelle
During one small group time in particular, several girls shared about how they were doing in their walk with God and what they were struggling with. Anxiety was a recurring theme. One girl struggles with crippling anxiety, but over the weekend, God reminded her that even in the storm, she will still decide to choose Jesus again and again. What a great reminder of how Christ is working in the hearts of teens.
“Winter Camp was the best time of my life. I got to watch God pour out into people’s hearts. There were great memories made, especially when our leader fell out of the snow tube and we all laughed. Haha. I enjoyed the time away with no phones to distract and to get away from everyday life.” – Landon
While students worshipped during sessions, it was amazing to see hundreds with their hands held high and praising Jesus by the end of the weekend. Lots of conversations and laughter. Shared memories and digging into the Word. Nothing is quite like taking teens out of their normal element and giving them the gift of presence and opportunity to come to Jesus with empty hands in surrender.
Praise God, we had at least two students accept Christ into their hearts for the first time and several students recommit their lives to Jesus!
“I’m a senior and have been going on this trip every year. I still feel the same spirit and love for Christ, just spending time with guys I get to now call my brothers in Christ and talking about where we are with Jesus. I love this place and I’m gonna miss it.” – Donnie
